Glock Magazine Plate Compatibility Guide – Every Model & Gen

Every Glock magazine ships with a polymer floor plate. Swapping it for a machined aluminium plate is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make — it adds weight low in the magazine, survives being dropped on concrete, and gives you something to grip when you strip a stuck mag. This page lists which NDZ plate fits which Glock, by model and generation.

The one compatibility rule that catches people out

Gen 1–4 floor plates do not fit Gen 5 magazines. The magazine body changed between generations, and a Gen 1–4 plate will not seat correctly on a Gen 5 mag. If you run a Gen 5 pistol, you need the Gen 5 plate — it fits the G17, G19, G22, G23, G34, G45, G47 and G49. It does not fit the G19X, G43X or G48, which use their own magazine bodies.

Check your generation before ordering. On most Glocks the generation is not marked on the slide, so if you are unsure, go by the magazine itself rather than the pistol.

Choosing a plate

For a duty or carry gun, a flush aluminium plate is the safe default — it adds durability without changing how the pistol holsters. For competition, an extended base pad buys you a faster, more positive grip on the magazine during reloads, at the cost of printing more under a cover garment.

Plates that add capacity are a different category. A +1 extension replaces the floor plate and changes the spring geometry, so treat it as a magazine modification rather than a cosmetic swap and function-test it before carrying.
