The barrel is the one part where aftermarket options change measurable performance rather than feel. Match-grade barrels use tighter chamber and bore tolerances for better accuracy, threaded barrels let you mount a compensator or suppressor, and conversion barrels let one pistol shoot a different calibre.
How fitment works
Barrels are model and generation specific because lug geometry and length differ. Conversion barrels are the special case: a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel lets a G22 or G23 run 9mm, but you also need the correct magazines, and the extractor may need changing for reliable function. Do not assume a conversion is barrel-only.

Choosing and fitting
Traditional rifling suits most shooters and, unlike Glock’s polygonal factory rifling, will handle unjacketed lead. If you are fitting a threaded barrel, check thread pitch matches your device — 1/2×28 is standard for 9mm but is not universal. Always function-test a new barrel with your carry ammunition before trusting it.
