Glock Rear Slide Cover Plate Compatibility Guide

The rear slide cover plate is the small panel at the back of the slide that retains the firing pin channel components. Functionally it does one job — hold the spacer sleeve and firing pin spring cups in place — which is why it is the single easiest part on a Glock to personalise without touching anything that affects how the pistol shoots.

How fitment works

Fitment splits mainly on generation. Gen 1–4 slides and Gen 5 slides use different plate profiles, and the slim-frame guns (43, 43X, 48) use their own. An armourer’s plate — usually orange, with a half-height cut — is a different item again: it is a bench tool for checking firing pin protrusion, not something to carry.

For a carry gun, choose a plate that sits flush and has no sharp edges that will catch on a cover garment. Machined aluminium and steel plates outlast the polymer OEM part. If you are installing one yourself, control the spacer sleeve on removal — the firing pin spring is under tension and will launch the cups across the room if you let it.
